Carly Prentiss

Graduate Assistant

Carly Prentiss is currently working toward her PhD in Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) at UConn, under the advising of Marlene Schwartz. She has previously earned her B.S. in Psychological Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University, with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling and a minor in Sociology. Her undergraduate career rested primarily in the sectors of health psychology, where she investigated how elements of nutritional and physical health correlated to dietary satisfaction and academic performance of young adults living on campus. At UConn, she is interested in expanding on the mechanisms of psychosocial environmental contexts in shaping the relationships that individuals create with food, eating, and weight. She is also interested in evaluating the implications of food insecurity and malnutrition among the young adult population’s mental health. Particularly, she is interested in studying how these factors can translate to the onset of disordered eating and other related psychological outcomes. At the Rudd Center, Carly is involved with the facilitation of the Connecticut Triennial Assessments evaluating school wellness policies, as well as examining the domains of the Whole School, Whole Child, Whole Community Model (WSCC).
