Caitlin Caspi

Director of Food Security Initiatives

Dr. Caspi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences and Director of Food Security Initiatives at the UConn Rudd Center for Food Policy and Health.  Her NIH-funded research broadly evaluates policies and interventions to address the social determinants of health and diet-related health disparities. She has led several qualitative and quantitative studies aimed at understanding how non-food policies, such as minimum wage and COVID-19 economic relief measures, affect food insecurity and other health outcomes among households with lower incomes. Her food insecurity research is largely focused on federal food assistance programs and the charitable food system. Dr. Caspi completed her ScD at the Harvard School of Public Health in social epidemiology. Prior to joining the Rudd Center, Dr. Caspi worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota.
