Rudd Alumni: Jaime S. Foster, PhD
Dr. Jaime S. Foster is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Foster received her B.S. in Dietetics at the University of Connecticut, Department of Allied Health Sciences. Concurrently, she completed the requirements necessary to become a Registered Dietitian and passed the licensing examination in August 2012. In 2014, she completed her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences in 2018, focusing her research on household food security’s measurement, report, and experience by gender in cohabiting parents of young children.
Dr. Foster is interested in advocacy for vulnerable populations, particularly those living in poverty and facing food insecurity. She is a passionate advocate for access to school nutrition programming in her own community and beyond.
At the Rudd Center, Dr. Foster's research focused on improving access to high quality, nutritionally rich food to clients of the Connecticut Food Bank and affiliated pantries. She also used this work to develop a protocol for national food banks interested in improving their clients’ access to healthy food, and she utilized her research and experience to transition into her new role at the Connecticut Food Bank.
