Faculty and Staff: Mary Himmelstein, PhD
Dr. Mary Himmelstein is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at the University of Connecticut, working with Deputy Director Dr. Rebecca Puhl.
Dr. Himmelstein earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology and Intradisciplinary Health Psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 2016. Her research focused on the complex relationship between stigma and health, exploring the roles of self-perception, masculinity, and coping on physiological, behavioral and psychological indices of health.
At the Rudd Center, Dr. Himmelstein’s research will focus on weight stigma with particular attention on the roles of self-perception, intersecting identities, and physiological consequences of stigma processes.
