Ellen Pudney

Ellen Pudney is a Graduate Assistant for the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity, working with Dr. Rebecca Puhl. She works as a member of the weight bias and stigma team to draw attention to weight bias and its consequences.
 
Ellen earned her B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut and completed an M.S. program and training as a Registered Dietitian at Northern Illinois University. She then worked for Virginia Cooperative Extension as a SNAP-Ed funded Family and Consumer Sciences Agent where she worked with health coalitions, clinics, schools, and faith-based organizations to develop and implement wellness policies.
 
Currently, Ellen is a PhD student in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in Health and Wellness. Her current research examines the effects of weight stigma and internalized weight bias on parent-child communication around weight.
